God and His healing
I am going to start this blog by explaining that I am not a theologian, nor am I going to approach this subject from a theologically defended position. I am merely writing from my own experience and from a perspective that is mine. The opinions are those of the author, in other words.
Many people believe in divine healing. Many do not. Many believe that healing is not for today. I believe in divine healing and because I believe in a God who loves us and cares about us, I believe that divine healing is just as true today as it was during Bible days.
The problem with divine healing is that we do not have control over it nor over God. It is God who heals and He heals according to His sovereign will. I do not understand why God heals in the ways that He chooses to heal. I do not believe that any of us can. We simply have to trust God with healing as we trust Him with everything in our lives.
Why does God heal? Sometimes just because He loves us. Many times because He wants to demonstrate who He is to a world that does not know Him or His character. Healing is often experienced in the context of evangelism and salvation contexts. People who witness healing can see that there is a God at work who loves them and wants to bring them to salvation.
We also have to understand that God’s purposes for all of us are not temporal. Our lives on this earth are finite and our days are numbered. God sees beyond these years on earth to the eternal. We are eternal beings and God’s purpose for us transcends earth and life on earth to an eternity with Him. So it is that sometimes His healing results in a person going to their eternity with Him. There is nothing more difficult for us to come to terms with than this. That is because we are finite and want to cling to life on earth and to those we share that life with here.
I don’t know about your experiences with healing. I don’t know about those times when it seemed that God was not healing or hearing. Don’t give up on healing nor on the God who heals. He does heal. He can heal and He will heal. Just not on our timetable and in our way. After all, He is God.
